First grade is Ka-Razy for Kandinsky

First grade learned about the Russian artist Wassily Kandinsky.  We looked at many of his paintings and discussed in depth his painting "Man on a Horse" and "Squares with Concentric Circles."

First grade started a cool construction based off of "Squares with Concentric Circles." We also used that painting as inspiration for a collaborative work.  Students rotated and worked in groups to draw and design circles only!  We were inspired by this collaborative work.

Well, we had to go with plan b when it came to working on constructions... (our supplies are buried somewhere in the old art room!) Instead we studied Kandinsky's "Color Studies" and made beautiful diamond designs.
