Finally some new art in our hallway! To end our architecture unit, we looked at Frank Lloyd Wright's Home and Studio, and the architecture of a Chicago row home. We discussed what shapes the architect used to design these homes. Then, first grade "played" with black block shaped construction paper. We designed several buildings with just triangles, squares, rectangles, and arches. Once our playing was done, students chose a home design they liked best and glued it down.
