Fifth grade is in the middle of their first independent project. Each student chose their own lesson and supplies from the textiles center. They have had two classes to get a good start on their assignment, and will have to work on the rest during centers or early finisher time. All the supplies that they need will be kept in their own supply box. They have been doing an awesome job so far! I can't wait to show off their projects.
Mrs. Kostal's art class is for grades K-5. We meet for one hour a week at Garfield Primary and Grant-White Intermediate Schools.
Fifth grade graffiti names and independent project boxes
Fifth grade recently studied street art and famed street artists Banksy and Shepard Fairey. We looked at the history of graffiti, what is legal and what isn't, and we talked about what makes street art, art. Next, we came up with our own name or tag. With help from a graffiti style worksheet, we made our own stickers for our independent project boxes. Everyone's was unique and beautiful. I love the new names some kids came up with too!
